  • Leverage support & partnership with other local, regional, state and governmental Economic Development organizations.

  • Build a broad base of support for PSEDC.

  • Develop a consistent definition of economic development for the greater Palm Springs area.
Palm Springs Economic Development Corporation (PSEDC) is a non-profit public interest corporation dedicated to the promotion of thoughtful and considered economic development in Palm Springs and the surrounding area. PSEDC, while supporting the ongoing success of the tourist/hospitality industry in the area, recognizes the importance of a sustainable diversified economy to ensure the community's overall economic health.

Our Goals
PSEDC's focus for 2008 includes:
  • Establish a strategic working relationship with the City of Palm Springs on economic development issues including:

    1. Reviewing the current application process for development.
    2. Assisting with developing an on-line tracking system for developers.
    3. Begin the process of creating an Enterprise Zone within the City of Palm Springs.
    4. Assist in enhancing business retention & development for downtown and the City of Palm Springs in general.
    5. Link the City of Palm Springs' website with PSEDC's website to assist businesses looking for a "Directory of Development Services".
    6. Aggressively work on the revitalization of downtown Palm Springs.

  • Continue work with College of the Desert and the City of Palm Springs with the formation of the COD West Valley Campus. Board Members and Staff are participating in focus groups and will continue as needed. PSEDC's continuation of it's fund raising program for the West Valley Campus will begin upon direction of COD and the City.

  • Supporting Mayor Pougnet's goal in making Palm Springs a "green" city by working with the City and local developers on "green" building.

  • Increase PSEDC Membership by 10%.

  • Search for government grants to assist with programs.

  • Keep membership apprised of PSEDC activities through newsletters.

  • PSEDC's Project Review Committee Continue will continue to assist builders/developers by reviewing their projects prior to Planning Commission and City Council Meetings. This group reviews developments and makes suggestions for changes that are needed.

  • A Board Member or PSEDC staff will attend Palm Springs Planning Commission Meetings and Palm Springs City Council Meetings on a regular basis.
